Foreword
Foreword
Section titled “Foreword”It is my honour and pleasure to write the foreword for the very first book written by my Associate Pastor, Rev. Lim Kheng Hai.
Kheng Hai has served faithfully as a deacon and elder of our church for many years. He was also a respected lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic for 25 years. In 2003, he responded to God’s call and went to the Bible College of New Zealand, Auckland, to pursue theological studies in preparation for church ministry. Upon completion of his theological studies, he returned immediately to Singapore to join our pastoral team. We have been especially blessed by his many talents, including his gift in writing.
This book is a compilation of the numerous articles he has written for our church bulletin (Carmel Weekly) in recent times. They represent the fruit of his pastoral reflections over a period of seven years. But they are more than just routine articles. Kheng Hai is one of the most pastoral and caring persons I have ever known. You will find evidence of his pastoral heart, reflective mind, and insightful comments throughout these pages.
Two things spurred Kheng Hai to publish this book. First, it is to celebrate 30 years of marriage to his dear wife, Gek Lang. Most of us in Carmel will readily agree that they make an ideal couple for pastoral ministry. I have known Kheng Hai to be a man with a witty sense of humor. I now discover that he is romantic at heart too: he has written a book as a “thank you” gesture to his wife for 30 wonderful years of marriage!
Second, he also wants to do his part to raise funds for our church development. Kheng Hai’s intention is to dedicate all the proceeds from the sale of this book towards Phase 4 of our church’s development project. Now you know why we count it a blessing to have him in our pastoral team!
I warmly commend this book to each of you. I sincerely hope that there will be more to come from the pen of Rev. Lim Kheng Hai.
